A Transatlantic Forum for Freedom in Cuba and Venezuela

  • Capitol Visitors Center First Street Northeast Washington, DC United States (map)

By invitation only.

Conditions for freedom in Cuba and Venezuela continue to deteriorate. In
Cuba, the Castro regime has, without holding free and fair elections, just
handed power to another dictator in the making, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the
Cuban people can expect many more years of poverty and oppression. In
Venezuela, the Maduro regime is starving and massacring innocent
Venezuelans. Cuba continues to influence Venezuela, with thousands of Cuban
intelligence officials operating at the highest levels of the Venezuelan
government, which is adopting similar socialist policies with fatal consequences
for the Venezuelan people.

The United States and the European Union must work together to support the
freedom of the people of Latin America and to combat the egregious human
rights violations of the region’s outlier regimes. To this end, the Victims of
Communism Memorial Foundation
and the Vaclav Havel Program for
Human Rights and Diplomacy
will host A Transatlantic Forum for Freedom
in Cuba and Venezuela.
We hope you will join us for this private roundtable
discussion bringing together representatives from the governments of the
United States and the European Union, opposition leaders from Cuba and
Venezuela, and regional experts.
